Visiting this website

This website is hosted on Firebase Hosting, a service of Google Ireland Limited. When you open a page, your browser sends technical data such as your IP address, the page requested, the time, and your browser type. This is needed to deliver the website and keep it secure. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

We don’t use analytics or advertising on this website, and our own website code doesn’t set cookies.

YouTube videos in articles

Article pages with videos load preview images from YouTube, a service of Google Ireland Limited. When the images load, your IP address and technical browser data are sent to Google. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in showing the videos clearly (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

The video player loads only if you press play. It uses YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode, but YouTube may still process usage data and store information on your device once the player loads. See Google’s privacy policy.

Contacting us by email

If you email us, we process your email address and your message to reply to you. Our mailbox is provided by Google. The legal basis is the handling of your request (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR). We keep messages only as long as needed for your request and any legal retention duties.

Using the app

The app has no login or user accounts, and it doesn’t use analytics or crash reporting.

• Purchases: Apple handles App Store downloads and payments under its own privacy policy. We use RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.) to manage the lifetime purchase, which involves an anonymous app user ID and purchase information.
• Firebase (Google): the current app version includes Firebase’s core components, but we don’t use Firebase login, analytics, or crash reporting.
• Reminders: reminders are scheduled on your device.

We don’t use your data for advertising or cross-app tracking. The legal basis for processing your purchase is providing the app and the purchased features (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Transfers outside the EU

Google and RevenueCat may process data in the United States. Where required, these transfers rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep data

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above, or as long as the law requires. Service providers may keep technical logs for limited periods under their own policies.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your data, the right to data portability, and the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests. To exercise them, email us at the address above.

You can also complain to a data protection authority. Ours is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia (LDI NRW).

We don’t use automated decision-making or profiling that has legal effects on you.
